Bundles| Cravings: Elephant Ears
Posted on August 8, 2013
To me, one of the best parts of summer is visiting carnivals! I typically only go for the elephant ears. Earlier in my pregnacy I craved them late one night. So I decided to get up head to the grocery store and make them! They are surprisingly easy to make and your family and tummy will thank you!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- vegetable oil, for frying
- sugar mixture (1/2 cup sugar and 2 teaspoon cinnamon), for topping
- melted butter, for topping
- extra flour, for cutting board and rolling pin
Add all dry ingredients together. Set aside. Beat eggs in seperate bowl, add in milk. Gradually add in flour mixture. Pour in melted butter, mix with hands. Take out of bowl and place on a floured surface. Knead until it is smooth and elastic. Divide dough into 4 pieces. Form into balls. On lightly floured surface. Roll balls out with rolling pin until the balls are are flat and round.
Heat oil over high heat. Place dough in grease. Fry for 1-2 minutes, or until crispy brown. Rub melted butter and sprinkle sugar mixture over dough.
